I also wanted to make a post about rights for people with disabilities. In college (my good Colby days)- I volunteered with Best Buddies, and spent one hour a week with a man who lived in his parent's house in a wheelchair, who had cerebral palsy. I worked with people with "severe" intellectual disabilities and discovered the brilliance and empathy of people living with intellectual disabilities. The people I worked with happened to be treated well and cared for, but there are so many people nationally and globally who live with these illnesses, who aren't receiving the great care I happened to witness when I was in college. On top of suffering from the illness, society hasn't reached a point where we're not mistreating people with disabilities. The organization I worked for is called Best Buddies.
